A Tasteworthy Launch

For orphans and single mothers, Selera Perdana is a generous and thoughtful project. In her speech, the director of the project, YABhg Tun Fatimah Haji Hisham said that the book was created to develop the minds and education of orphans and chlildreno of single mothers. All proceeds of this book will be donated to this cause.

Selera Perdana was launched on 15 January by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Among the special guests were YAB Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, YB Dato Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, YB Dato' Wong Kam Hoong, YABhg Tun Rahah Mohd Noah, wife of the late Tun Abdul Razak, YABhg Tun Suhailah Mohd Noah, wife of the late Tun Hussein Onn. Tun Dr Mahathir was represented by his daughter YBhg Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir. The late Tunku Abdul Rahman was represented by Tunku Muinuddin Putra Tengku Dato’ Nerang Putra.

YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib was utmost pleased with YABhg Tun Fatimah Haji Hisham's efforts because it proved her interest in issues that affect our nation's future. This project did not only recorded the favourite recipes of four Prime Ministers; it had the vision to encourage the younger generation to recognise their leaders, and of course their nation's unique cuisine.
Selera Perdana relates the experiences of Puan Safiah Bt Mahmood, known as Kak Orkid, who served all four past leaders - Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Abdul Razak, Tun Hussein Onn, and Tun Dr Mahathir. It documents the history and reveals the diet routines of the prime ministers when they were among family, friends, and honoured guests. Selera Perdana was written by Datin Habibah Yahaya and Puan Fadillah Yakin.
