This publication explores the many spheres that heritage encompasses
- from lifestyle and fashion to finance and investment; personalities
and company profiles to food and restaurants; health and healing to tours
and special events; and history - all from an Asian and a Malaysian perspective.
It seeks to show the enduring richness of the past, its relevance today,
and its meaning for the future. In short, Heritage Asia responds to broad
areas of interest among a discerning reading public.
In this age of an increasingly borderless world where global influences
are blurring distinctive cultural identities, it is imperative that we
rediscover, preserve, and celebrate our regions cultural roots.
These precious legacies are an essential part our identities. They are
treasures to be valued and to be appreciated by generations to come. Already,
there is an emerging consciousness of the importance of retrieving and
recording this heritage of Asia.
Heritage Asia is a richly illustrated and attractively
presented magazine with articles on Asian heritage written with authority
by distinguished authors. By keeping to high standards of historical research
while maintaining its popular style of writing, Heritage Asia stands at
the doorstep of the new affluent Asian reading public made up of cosmopolitan,
educated professionals in varied fields of work but all having in common
the emergent affinity to culture, tradition and heritage. Now preparing
its sixth issue, there is undoubtedly a wide and viable readership.

The idea of starting a magazine called Heritage Asia
was mooted by a number of heritage enthusiasts and this was further developed
at The Penang Story conference in 2002 in Penang. It was felt
by many that a popular-style magazine was needed to bring subjects of
heritage interest to a wider audience. At the same time the magazine could
be a medium for heritage societies to publicise their events.
Since then all five issues of Heritage Asia have been very well received.
The President of the Singapore Heritage Society was sufficiently impressed
as to send in subscriptions for all his members. Heritage Asia has successfully
secured the partnership of Malaysia Airlines, Starbucks, The Tourism Board
of Malaysia, and numerous clubs and hotels.
